I had such a relaxing break and I sincerely hope you all did as well. With that said, I am so glad to be back into a normal routine! It was definitely hard getting up this morning, but now that I'm here I am so excited for all of the things we will be doing the rest of this school year.
I wanted to update you on a few things for the rest of the year. We did a trial run of ClassDojo and I think we will continue using that to track behavior. It honestly helps me remember what the students did to lose points. You do not have to download the app. I know you already have Seesaw, and I will continue to use that app for communication. They will continue to fill out a stop and think sheet that will need to be signed and returned the next day. This is their responsibility to remember to get the signature. I will also start a tracking sheet in their leadership binders for positive Dojo points to earn rewards. While we are talking about behavior, I am really looking for support in this new year. The students seemed to get pretty relaxed with our expectations nearing Christmas break and so I have told them that I will start getting very strict about our expectations this year. I have explained to them that when everyone is following our expectations and I can trust that they will, that I can plan for more fun activities during our learning time. With 19 students, things can get pretty crazy sometimes, so thank you in advance for partnering with me on this. Important Dates to remember for January: Thursday, January 9- Hat Day with a Food Pantry Donation or 25 cents Friday, January 10- First Fridays for Families in the cafeteria at 7:15 Friday, January 10- 2nd quarter progress reports will be sent home Monday, January 20- NO SCHOOL for students Good News Club will meet the 16th, 23rd, and 30th this month. Thanks for reading! Mrs. Adams

I can't believe it is already April! We are so close to the end, but we still have a lot to do!
Book-It is over for the school year, but keep reading at home! Reading at home is so important! Summer school sign up is open. Summer school is free, provides free breakfast and lunch, will be at Willard South this year, and will be in session June 3-June 28 from 7:30-2:00. Tiger tales will be available after school for an additional cost. Important dates for April:
Important Dates to put on your calendar:
We are finishing up the 3rd quarter of the school year. I can hardly believe that only 1 quarter of school separates these wonderful kids from being 3rd graders! I want to make sure I do everything I can to get them ready.
March is looking like it will be a fast, busy month. I have a few important dates to share with you:
We will also be having student led conferences the last week of March. I will contact you if I need to conference with you, however, you may request a conference if you feel that you have something you need to discuss. Mrs. Adams February may be the shortest month of the year, but to me it always feels like the longest. I am so tired of the cold weather. I hope that this year, February will be easy on us!
Here are some important dates to remember for February in our classroom:
A few other things... I will no longer be using Remind. It is no longer supported by some cell phone carriers. For now please reach out to me through email. Have a great month! Mrs. Adams Winter break was so short! But I was very thankful for the time to relax, catch up, and most of all spend time with my family. Don't forget that we come back to school on Monday, January 7th. I will update calendars and lunch menus that day in folders. Please send in your Book It logs for December as well and I will give out the pizza coupons. By the way- the new Pizza Hut on Chestnut Expway (in the same shopping center as Subway) is open!
Here are some other important dates to remember as we jump into the second semester: Tuesday, January 8- Hat Day with Food Pantry Donation Friday, January 11- 2nd quarter progress reports are sent home-if you have any questions about your child's report, please email me and we can discuss it Monday, January 21- No School in honor of MLK day Have a great month and Happy New Year! Mrs. Adams Hello Families!
2018 is quickly coming to an end, which means we are 1/2 way through the school year! I have seen so much growth in your students already! New calendars and lunch menus are going home in STAR folders today, and I wanted to take this time to update you about some changes we are making with reading logs. I have spoken with the entire class, and we will no longer have the reading log in the back of the star folder. Instead, we will be using our Book It Calendars to track our reading minutes. The amount of suggested reading is the same, but instead of tracking it weekly, we will just be tracking it monthly. Each time your child reads at least 20 minutes, they can color in that day on their Book It Calendar. They will need a total of 6 days colored in (120 minutes) to get their personal pan pizza coupon. I'm hoping to see more students participate in the next few months! Reading at home will help us all hit our goal of seeing one year's growth in all students. Important Dates this month: Tuesday December 4- Hat Day and Make It, Take It Give It Night from 6-7. December 3-7- Book Fair in the Library- each class will have 2 times to shop during the week. December 21- Half day to kick off Winter Break December 22-January 6- Winter Break- See you back on Monday, January 7th! Happy Holidays! Mrs. Adams October was a busy month, but November comes with lots of rest and break time!
